Hi everyone! Today is a mixed bag weather-wise. We’ve had some rain and some sunshine and the temperature rose to 20°C. It’s okay given that I’ve resigned to the idea that summer is over already.
Today I’m joining #WeekendCoffeeShare. Of course, being that it’s past 8PM, I’ve already had all my coffee for the day. My Senseo coffee maker’s loose parts are also in the dishwasher and I won’t be able to make you a Senseo anymore from now on. More on that later. The staff will probably make you one if you ask though.
If we were having coffee (or any other drink), I’d share that indeed, like I shared earlier, my mood seems to have deflated a little, but I can’t quite say I’m depressed or sad. I just feel a little less inspired and motivated and a little more irritable and anxious than I was over the past couple of weeks. It’s okay though. I’m pretty sure that even this little low won’t mean all my elation over the past month or so was for nothing.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’ve still managed to be quite creative over the past week. Early in the week and today, I did some polymer clay. I created the “rainbow” pendant I showed you all on Wednesday, as well as a pretty useless layered heart.
I say it is useless because it has neither a hole for a jumpring or ribbon in it, nor an eyepin attached. It is also too large for an earring. I might be able to make a brooch out of it someday.
I have also been doing some soap and skincare product making over the past few days.
If we were having coffee, I’d share that yesterday when making some soap, the microwave I normally use for melting my soap and other skincare ingredients, malfunctioned. This microwave used to be used by the sleeping shift, who had their room next to the entrance to my care home. However, they no longer use this, so the microwave won’t be replaced.
I’ve had a microwave for my room on my wishlist for several months, but was going to delay actually buying one for a while still. Until this one failed, that is. My husband tried talking me out of buying a microwave and that’s where the Senseo comes in. He said I don’t have space for a microwave in my room, but I will if I do away with the coffee maker. So he proposed he give me the microwave from Lobith, since he hardly uses it, and I give him my Senseo. I’m fine with that, since I rarely if ever actually use the Senseo. In fact, I just discovered that the unopened packet of coffee pods I had in my kitchen drawer had an expiration date of July 2020. I hereby apologize for having virtually poisoned all my Coffee Share guests with moldy coffee. The Senseo, I’m hoping, is still in pretty good condition.
How have you been?
I’m glad you’re doing okay, you have been really creative and the soap making sounds like fun.

I love the heart you made. Maybe you could turn some of these into fridge magnets?

Oh that’s a cool idea. I don’t have a fridge (another thing on my wishlist, a mini one at least, but I haven’t mentioned that to my husband yet), but my husband has one in Lobith of course.

The imprinted design on that multi-layered heart adds nice detail, so it would be a nice brooch or magnet with a glue-on back.
The trade-off of microwave for Senseo machine sounds great for both of you! And the coffee pods are probably still good, so we coffee-friends are all fine – ha, ha!

Thank you so much. I’m glad you liked my heart. Turning it into a magnet sounds like a great idea.

If you’re not using your coffee machine then I think it’s a good trade in.

I agree. I’m not even sure my husband will be using it either, but that’s not my business.

Oh yes, the magnet sounds like an awesome idea! Soap making is definitely fun. Thank you so much for stopping by and for not taking my coffee, LOL.

It’s really nice that despite not feeling as motivated as before, you’ve still been quite creative! 🙂
It sounds like a good idea that you’ll be getting a microwave for the Senseo, especially if you don’t use the latter much. 🙂

Thank you for commenting. Yes, I’m so happy that I’m still relatively creatively inspired. That’s one reason I want the microwave. The trade-off seems pretty amazing to me too.

Hahahah Astrid.
You had me laughing at the thought of accidentally virtually poisoning fellow coffee share-ers with moldy old coffee pods. A man can outgrow the clothes of his years as a boy, but rarely will he out grow his boyish sense of humor.
When all three of our kids were still here with us, we had all kinds of food moods to manage. Things would appeal one week and not have any interest the next. I sometimes jested that we had enough varieties of packaged foods that we could open a store and call it, Gary’s Emporium of Expired Eatables.
Wouldn’t that be fun. . . ?
Thanks for the visit that made me laugh.
I hope you stop by my coffee share this weekend. This past week I got 2 stories out the door and one of them is about a squirrel in our backyard and the adventure he and I had together. You must have squirrels there. They are everywhere I think. Anyway, this story might make you smile.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the expired foods. That really made me laugh. I’ll certainly check out your coffee share post, though it may not be until tomorrow as I’m in Lobith right now.

I’ve finally, probably due to pandemic, managed to wean myself completely off of coffee, and caffeine in general. A pleasant side to that is that I’ve been less irritable and more positive minded. Oh, and I lost some weight, too. Not that any of that has to do with coffee… Glad to hear that you’ve had a better week this week. We’re still trucking along, here.

Ah, I could probably never completely stop drinking coffee. Then again, I’ve never tried and it isn’t a goal for me. I’m glad you’re doing okay. Hope you’ll keep on trucking along.

At one time, I was drinking 15-20 POTS a day. It’s taken me decades to wean off of it. Who could have known that caffeine could be so addictive.

Oh wow, that’s a lot! I only drink like 4-5 cups a day and that includes decaf in the evening usually. Congrats on weaning yourself off of it all!

It’s frustrating when appliances break down. That’s when we realize how much we depend on them. We just had to replace our microwave too.

Oh, I’m sorry you had to replace your microwave too. My staff do still have a microwave/oven combo in the kitchen, but I don’t like going there much.

Appliances don’t last very long these days. I hope you get a new one soon.

That’s true. My husband gave me his microwave to use for as long as it still works. When it no longer works, I’ll indeed buy a new one.

I was thinking those hearts would make a good pin/broach! Glad to hear your creative juices have been flowing but it’s so frustrating when appliances we rely on start breaking down and malfunctioning.

Yes, that’s frustrating indeed. I can still do many creative things though and hopefully will have my husband’s microwave soon.

You could use that heart as a paper weight or just a reminder to “love”…I have a small heart just sitting on my desk. Have a great week.

Thanks for these ideas. It’s far too lightweight to be a paperweight, but the reminder sounds great.

It does feel that summer is just about over although there is talk of a heatwave happening here soon.
I hope you are feeling a bit happier now. It is good that you have still being creative though. The rainbow pendant is very cute. It would make a lovely brooch x

Thank you so much. I’m feeling a little brighter today. As for the pendant, I attached that one to the ribbon around one of the gifts (the soap I think) I made for my day activities staff. It’s the heart I’m thinking of turning into a brooch.
