Tanka: Solitude

Alone in the dark
With just silence around me
I struggle to cope
And so I search deep within
For my inner sense of peace

I originally wrote this poem for dVerse Poets, for which the poetics prompt yesterday was “solitude”. I’m also joining in with Tanka Tuesday.

    1. Yeah, true. I am blind, so it’s almost literally always dark around me (not really, as I do have light percception). However, I am not deaf and can’t imagine experiencing that.

  5. I honestly believe each one of us is being tested in different ways right now. Anyone who says they aren’t is lying. I take it a day at a time. The one saving grace for me is that it isn’t taking place in the middle of winter.
