I wonder
What color is the sun?
Is it red like fire,
Shooting flames across the sky?
Is it orange like the fruit,
Splashing its rays all around?
Is it yellow like a sunflower,
Fully blooming in midsummer?
Then again, how do I know
What these colors even mean?
Fire isn’t red or so I’ve heard
A sunflower’s heart and seeds are brown
As I look up to the sunset
My eyes wide open
I see nothing
Light nor darkness
And I wonder
What color is the sun?
This poem was written for this week’s Friday Writings, for which the optional prompt is “sunset”. I’m also joining dVerse’s OLN.
I love this 💛

When I close my eyes in the sun, the color on the inside of my lids is MAGENTA!

Oh wow, how awesome! As someone who is blind (still with some light perception though), I had no idea.

I really don’t care what colour it is….we haven’t seen it for such a long time in Sydney any colour is welcome. Send us some of your sunshine.

I’ll try, but I’m afraid it’ll take six months to get to you. 😉

Your poem makes me stop and think about colors, and how they affect our lives.

I’m glad it made you think. One of the biggest things I miss about the time I still had some sight (I’m totally blind, always have been legally blind but had some vision as a child), are colors.

Nice thoughts, M. A. A question that most of us never are prompted to ask.
Google knows though, now I do also. “The color of the sun is white. The sun emits all colors of the rainbow more or less evenly and in physics, we call this combination “white”. ”

Wow, how interesting! I was tempted to include “cool” colors like blue and green in my poem too, but decided against it because I thought it might not make as much sense to sighted people. Physics-wise though, it does make definite sense. I should have done a Google search first.
