#WeekendCoffeeShare (October 9, 2021)

Hi everyone on this sunny Saturday. Well, it’s not sunny anymore, as the sun has just set, but it was sunny all afternoon. Today I’m joining #WeekendCoffeeShare again. I’m in Lobith and I usually have tea in the evenings here, but if you’d like a cup of coffee, I’m sure my husband can make you one too.

If we were having coffee, I’d share that this week was all quite meh. I’ve said this a couple of times already over the past week. It’s all just one endless stream of sadness, triggers and the resulting flashbacks.

I’m pretty sure I’ve decided I’m going to ask my nurse practitioner to up my topiramate on Monday. I hope this means I won’t have to wait for my next weekly med refill on Saturday to get the upped dose. Of course I know meds won’t solve everything, but I can’t think of anything else right now.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I did find some inspiration in the soaping and essential oil departments again. Yesterday, I even managed to make a simple butterfly melt and pour soap.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I also managed to get in more steps this week than last week and that’s not counting tomorrow yet. Okay, last week was quite a bad week in the walking department, but oh well, let’s be thankful for the little things.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my orthopedic footwear finally returned from whoever (Shoe or AFO Guy) was working on it earlier this week. It finally seems to be okay now. Not great, but okay. I have at least been able to walk some 25 minutes on the footwear without too much pain and am pretty sure it needs getting used to as well.

If we were having coffee, I would repeat how grateful I am for all the lovely comments on my blog. Like I mentioned last week, I’m participating in #Blogtober21, though my only goal right now is to publish a blog post everyday. I’m no longer going with prompts. Today, I almost wouldn’t have written a post, as I’m with my husband in Lobith like I said and this usually means I can’t concentrate. However, I didn’t want to break my streak.

If we were having coffee, lastly I would share my husband cooked me a delicious rice and meatballs meal this eveningn. Neither of us was full after it, so we ended up ordering something else afterwards. However, the meal was very tasty!

How have you been?

  1. I was on 50mg top 2x/day for a long time. It helped my migraines a lot at first, then did nothing. I’ve been off for a year and feel no different. Lost weight at first and kept it off. Hope you get the meds you need!

    1. Thank you for sharing. I take the topiramate as an off-label prescription for PTSD symptoms. I’m pretty sure it still does something, but it’s the fall season with all its triggers that’s causing me increased vulnerability. I’m sorry it stopped working for you.

  2. Love that soap – how clever. I’m a bit Meh too but I’m sure it’s lockdown and the endless dreariness of it all. Off for a walk by the water with a friend tho, so that’s always a good start to the day.

    1. Thanks for the compliment on my soap. I’m not sure the footwear will be as it should be in the long run now, as I’m still in the getting used to it phase, but I hope it finally is now.

  3. Lovely to have a coffee with you. Sorry, this week has been tough. You have done so well. Lovely to see your soaps- I love the butterfly. It’s like your husband made the starter and then you ordered the main meal!! I love (vegan for me) meatballs and rice xxx

    1. Thank you for commenting. I’m so happy you like my soap. Oh, vegan meatballs, I don’t think I’ve ever had those. Might be wrong though, since my husband used to be a vegetarian so we ate meat substitutes quite often back when I still lived with him.

  4. So sorry you have had a rough week. It is worth upping your meds, anything is worth a try if it makes your life easier.
    The butterfly is very pretty.
I am so glad you have got your footwear back and it sounds like it’s working well.
I hope you had a lovely time with your husband x

    1. Thank you so much. Yes, I agree about the meds. I mean, I’d rather not take as many meds as I’m on right now, but if it’s helping, that’s what matters. Thanks for the compliment on my butterfly soap. Yes, I did have a good time with my husband.

  5. Sorry you’ve been feeling a bit meh. I think we all get like that from time to time.
Fingers crossed a new dose of meds will help. As long as you feel better then that’s all that matters.
I absolutely love your butterfly soap. It looks like a really nice craft to do.
Take care and enjoy the rest of your Sunday. 😊

  6. It is nice to have a coffee with you! It’s not sunny here at the moment, and it’s gone cold at home. I have not had more steps in than last week, but am glad you have!

    1. Thank you. As for the steps, obviously you can’t always get more steps in one week than the previous one. It’s totally normal that you’ll have ups and downs.

  7. Great job on the soap making. Sorry the week was meh…hopefully this last week was better. I’m way behind on my commenting. Our weather here in the PNW is very wet this time of year so getting out and walking doesn’t often happen. I hate walking in the rain….lol

    1. Thank you for stopping by. I hate walking in the rain too. Thankfully, though we do get some rain here almost everyday now, it’s usually not raining the entire day. I’m still struggling. Hopefully I’ll feel better soon. Hope you’re having a nice week.
