#WeekendCoffeeShare (February 21, 2021)

Happy Sunday everyone! I’m rather late joining in with this week’s #WeekendCoffeeShare, but better late than never I’d say. In addition to coffee, today we have two types of soft drinks in the fridge, both partly lemon-flavored and neither of which I like. If you’d prefer cold water, I totally get you. Unfortunately, the water hasn’t been in the fridge that long yet, so it’s not super cold. I hope you enjoy whichever drink you choose anyway. Let’s have a drink and let’s catch up.

If we were having coffee, firstly I’d ask about your weather. Is yours as crazy as ours? Last week, remember, we had snow and temperatures below freezing. Now, the weather is really spring-like, with the temperature having risen to 17°C here in Raalte and to 19°C in some places in the south of the country. Tomorrow we might get even warmer weather.

If we were having coffee, I’d share I went to Lobith for the week-end. My husband and I got Domino’s pizza yesterday. The one I got, curry kebab, was good, but not as great as I’d expected.

On the way back to Raalte, my husband had a radio station on playing summer hits to celebrate the warm weather. I now have the Venga Boys’ Boom, Boom, Boom stuck in my head and I actually don’t mind. I don’t think anyone who isn’t a child of the nineties can truly appreciate the beauty of this music. 🤣

If we were having coffee, I’d share that I still don’t feel back to my normal self. My magnesium, which I started last week for constipation, has been upped. I’m struggling to decide whether this was a good thing or not. Guess I’ll give it a few more days to see how I do.

I’m also still pretty fatigued and easily overloaded. On Thursday, I landed in a minor crisis due to it. Unfortunately, my community psychiatric nurse didn’t work that day and the substitute couldn’t help me much at all. He offered to ask my CPN to call back on Friday, but I think she may not have received the memo. By then though, I was feeling somewhat more functional.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that a fellow client and staff cooked spaghetti for us today. It was good.

If we were having coffee, lastly I’d share that I made a lip scrub with my one-on-one staff this evening. I used coconut oil, sugar and vanilla extract. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be the consistency I liked. However, it did make my lips feel soft.

What’s been going on in your life?

  1. I’ll have a black tea thanks…or water – I’m fine with it straight from the tap. The weather has been all over the place here – rainy, sunny, but always warm and humid – with another hot one on the way today. That lip scrub sounds yummy. Take care…

  2. I’ve got a cup of hot English breakfast tea, here. It is feeling good to get to the end of the weekend. Weekends seem quite cluttered with things to remember. Our weather did take a turn for the better, also. Though there is still snow on the ground, I was able to go out with the dogs for a while without my putting on a jacket. (They wore theirs.) / I’ve never heard of a curry kebob pizza. I am tempted to check the local Dominoes menu. / The weather has been iffy for long enough that I have not kept up on my pedaling the stationary bike, and so the next thing I have to do is exercise…start catching up, now that the weather has improved. Looking forward to spring. –Best wishes for your week! Enjoyable activities to explore!

    1. Thank you so much. The curry sauce on the pizza was rather bland, the type Dutch people put on their cauliflower with boiled potatoes or mash. I doubt they’ll have it in other countries.

    1. Thank you. The recipe I used said just to melt the coconut oil and then mix it together with the other ingredients. I used a tablespoon of sugar and a teaspoon of coconut oil as the recipe had said, but in the future I’ll use less sugar.

  3. Yes, we’ve had the same weather! Snow one week and pretty warm, almost spring like the next. I am happy about it, it’s meant I have been able to dry the washing on the line.
hahaha! I used to love that Venga Boys song. I was a teenager in the 90’s. x

  4. Hi Astrid.
I’m even later than you with getting my rounds made to others from the weekend. I’m not too upset about being so far behind because I spent much of my weekend working on 2 stories that I added to my collection and I really like them and feel like I’m getting the hang of the 1-3 thousand word length story. I had already shared out one of them for a whole day when an idea struck me as to how to make it even better and since I work through my blog, it was easy to open it back up and make the changes. I’m pretty sure that someone was reading it as I finished and posted so I’m not sure which version was read. No matter. It’s there now for anyone to enjoy.
If you’re looking for a fun short read, I always welcome you to my collection and my latest, Ribbons and Remembrances, is a fun conversation between a very wrinkled old grandma, and her daughter and three grand children. Here’s the link if I can tempt you. https://garyawilsonstories.wordpress.com/ribbons-and-remembrances/ .
I wish you could see the main photo. The lady who posed for the shot was as wrinkled as my great grandma was when I was very young. The way she’s looking at the world reminds me of my other grandmothers (due to a fluke, I had 3 for a while and all were wonderful women).
Okay, I’m kind of freaked out by the thought of curry pizza. Somehow this combination never occurred to me and I just can’t imagine it.
I’m glad you’re doing well. Wish you didn’t have any bumps in your health, but as near as I can tell, few of us get by without something trying to ruin our day. You seem to bear up pretty well.
Okay, I’ll let you get back to your mid-week (we are so late. . .) Thanks for the visit.
    Blessings.

  5. I’m drinking some coffee as I read this. In december I made a salve out of Calendula flowers I grew. i think it turned out good. I was a bit nervous but it worked out. I love listening to some good music. Our weather here in the Pacific Northwest is going to be nice the next few days and of course, I have to work. Oh well. Have a great week.

    1. Glad the calendula salve turned out pretty well. My childhood garden had that growing too.

Oh, I’m so sorry you have to work now that the weather’s getting better. Hope you’ll have a nice week regardless.
