#WeekendCoffeeShare (June 7, 2020)

It’s Sunday and I am feeling pretty lazy. I have quite a few ideas for blog posts, but I’m just going with the #WeekendCoffeeShare. I haven’t participated in that one in a while. Grab a cup of coffee, green tea or I think there’s some soda or juice in the fridge still too and let’s catch up.

If we were having coffee, of course I’d talk about my new iPhone. I already shared about it on Friday, but well, I’m totally in love with it! I got the iPhone SE 2020, which the info section in Settings just calls the SE. That’s pretty confusing, since I also have the old SE still. I haven’t prepared that one for reselling or donating to charity yet. Not even sure what I’m going to do with it. Probably donate it to charity for recycling, but I’m not confident enough to remove all data yet.

My husband asked me what type of case I want for my new iPhone. He’s going to buy me one for my birthday. I currently have a jelly case, but I want a bookcase.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I got over 50K steps this past week. Last week, I got nearly 65K, so this isn’t a big accomplishment, but it still feels good.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that the weather is weird. Sometimes it rains, while other times it’s just slightly cloudy or even a bit sunny. Because of the rain, I haven’t been walking as much this week as I’d want to. Then again, I guess nature and agriculture need the rain.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that on Thursday, the staff intern and I made apple pastries. I didn’t do more than cut the apples into cubes, but it was okay. They were delicious!

If we were having coffee, I would also tell you that on Thursday I went to my GP. I have a large itchy spot on my upper leg that won’t go away. The GP thinks it’s an insect bite made worse by my scratching it. I got some hydrocortisone cream for it. It’s slightly better now.

If we were having coffee, I’d share with you how happy I am that WordPress isn’t planning on retiring the classic editor anytime soon. I don’t hate the block editor as much as some other bloggers do, but I find it somewhat annoying at the same time. I never liked the WordPress.com editor, so am actually pretty happy it’s gone.

If we were having coffee, lastly I would tell you that I’ve done a lot of reading lately. I’m truly in the mood again. I bought the YA novel Full Disclosure by Camryn Garrett on Thursday and actually finished it in only three days. That’s pretty awesome for me.

How have you been lately?

  1. Sounds like you are doing well.

Things here remain the same. I am waiting to return to work in Mid July (July 13) and have been trying to keep busy but find myself most days on the computer or watching TV.

I do some walking not as nearly as much as I should. I make trips to the grocery store or to the doctors office for in person appointments or infusions. I hve seen my neighbors from a safe distance. I see my sister every so often but keep in contact via text daily.

Many of our festivals in town and the surrounding towns have all been cancelled even before the summer has actually started. Many of our towns and cities are reopening after the quarantine. I don’t remember what is opening up this week but many stores, offices, and companies, restaurants without door patios have opened. I think parks, playgrounds, and recreational centers are going to be opening soon.

    1. Thanks for your comment. Yes, festivals and stuff have been canceled here until the end of August. Restaurants are reopening though. I’m glad you’re able to see your sister and neighbors.

  2. Mix of weather here too and its been cold a few days. Busy between work some days but when I relax, I still stay at home. I only go out when I need groceries or work. That’s it. I am in no hurry to venture out for anything else.

This weekend I have been busy creating and scheduling posts for December.
I gave myself a lie in though this morning, as I felt so tired. The tiredness I was feeling got less by early afternoon.

  3. Astrid! There you are. You have been missed. I’m with you about the new block editor. I tried it once and could not for the life of me find a reason to use it. It became less of a editor for creating my posts and quickly turned into something more I had to manage and often undo what it did for me. I don’t need or want another thing between my brain and the result I’m looking for. So no, I’m not going to the block editor any time soon.

    1. Thanks so much for visiting! I tried the block editor a couple times and it does have some good points, but I much prefer the classic editor.

  4. Those were all good and how cool you really like that new phone. I have an iPhone Xr and it’s probably the worst one I’ve ever had and I started by with the first one. Darn, that’s a lot of steps, good job!

    1. Oh, that sucks that you don’t like the XR. I don’t like that it doesn’t have a home button and works with face ID only, which is kind of hard to use if you’re blind like me. The SE 2020 has a home button and touch ID.

  5. Glad you got and are liking your new phone. I’m an Android girl myself, but my husband and one son each have an iPhone.
    A 3-day book! Must’ve been good.

    1. Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I understand about being an Android girl. I would’ve been one had its accessibility not lagged so far behind iPhone. VoiceOver is the only reason I am an iPhone girl.

      The book was definitely good!

  6. Our weather has been all over the place too; even the temps range from 40 in the morning to near 80 in the afternoon which makes dressing for the weather a real challenge! #MMBC

  7. Thanks for the invitation. Unfortunately, my second chemotherapy has made me rather sick. It will sort itself out when I can take the other anti-sickness tabletts but until then I just have to keep walking through hell 😁. I hope your insect bite has gone much better and I am glad you are back into reading. I’ve decided to change my reading list in somidsrity with #BlackLivesMatter but much more to learn about the reality of racism in our countries and to figure out where my hidden misconsceptions about my own behaviours are. I always feel we have to start with ourselves when change is needed. Take good care and happy Monday or Tuesday. Not sure what day is it anyway πŸ˜˜πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈπŸ

    1. I’m so sorry you’re feeling so sick. Here’s hoping you feel better soon and the chemo at least does what it’s supposed to.

I applaud you for changing your reading list in solidarity with #blaclivesmatter. Of course, I guess educating ourselves as privileged people makes us human, not extraordinary, but well.

      1. It’s not about being extraordinary. It’s about understanding the topic and seeing where I stand in all this. I feel that everybody deserves justice and bei treated fairly. That’s what our societies supposedly are build on but the reality is a different one πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈπŸ
